Job Title: Graphic Designer

More Perfect Union, a new progressive media organization, is looking for a Graphic Designer to join our growing team. The role will collaborate closely with video editors, content creators, and other digital media team members to create compelling thumbnails that drive engagement on YouTube, Instagram and other video and social media platforms, with a mission of empowering working people through information and policy change.

You will be part of a small, highly collaborative social media and distribution team, but you’ll regularly work with staff across the broader editorial organization. 

We’re looking for candidates who are passionate and knowledgeable about graphic design, about economic justice, and about thinking creatively and strategically about how our content can have the most profound possible impact on the world.

Core Responsibilities:

• Conceptualize and create eye-catching and engaging video thumbnails that enhance click-through rates on YouTube and other video platforms.
• Work with video editors, content creators, and other graphic designers to ensure thumbnails align with video themes and the organization's brand.
• Assist in developing a visual strategy for thumbnails that supports the overall publishing and engagement goals.
• Stay up-to-date on thumbnail design trends and best practices for increasing KPIs on social media engagement and conversion.
• Collaborate with social media and video teams to ensure timely production of thumbnails to meet publishing schedules.
• Support other aspects of the social media and distribution team through graphic design and content creation as needed.
• Adapt to working in a fast-paced, creative environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience/Qualifications:

• Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator and Canva
• Demonstrated ability to create high-quality, clickable thumbnails for YouTube and other video platforms
• Knowledge of social media publishing practices, including familiarity with YouTube Studio, and an understanding of what makes engaging thumbnail content
• A passion for content creation and economic justice
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of meeting tight deadlines
